What is jewelry capable of? It is important to me that my work serve a function in people's lives. This can be as simple as delight - being transformed into a fantasy of oneself by putting on a tiara, or finding the unexpected - hidden away inside a lipstick tube. Though my focus is jewelry, I am often tempted by sculpture, albeit on a micro-mini scale. I employ simple hand fabrication techniques: sawing, hammering, soldering, bending and twisting to achieve my goals. Currently,I fulfill these fascinations by combining them with inspiration from life, gardening, and historical decorative arts. |
