Biba Schutz is a self-taught jewelry artist who began her design career as a graphic artist. She was trained in typography and printmaking at the Pratt Graphics Center, New York City and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in design from American University in Washington, D.C. and continued her creative interest at the Instituto De Allende, San Miguel De Allende, Mexico
What is provocative about Schutzís work is the way her visual vocabulary connects with the senses. Schutz is intrigued with form, line, space and texture. She creates a dialogue between positive and negative space drawing the viewer into each piece.
Schutz was e work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions throughout the U.S. and has been highlighted in many publications including Metalsmith magazine; American Craft magazine; Ornament magazine; and the "500" book series by Lark Books.
