Metalsmith jewelry artist Claudia Dean has a B.F.A. from Kansas City Art Institute, in painting and printmaking emphasis. Dean also earned a M.A. from the University of New Mexico, 1983, printmaking emphasis.
She began making jewelry in 1985, while living in Albuquerque, NM.
Inspiration comes from her garden and hiking, and abundance of vegetation and jumbled landscape, all influencing Dean's work. Her pins are organized more as a page of text or music, or have the appearance of a book, rather than a small sculpture.
