"Although I am a Japanese national, I was born and raised in Hong Kong. Growing up in this fast-paced and densely populated city, I developed a strong appreciation for nature. To this day, memories from my childhood in the woods, creeks or the ocean of Hong Kong is a source of inspiration. I feel as though memories such as smell of mist in Victoria Peak or the thrill of catching a prawn at Tai Long Bay have great impact on who I am and what I create."
"Recently, I have been influenced by the texture and shape of a seashell, as well as its connotation of protectiveness, privacy and individuality. The harmonization of the radically different, such as, violence and meditation, spontaneity and meticulousness, and destruction and repair is found in the process, as well as the result of my work."
