Marco Polo Designs
Jane Barthelemy, founder of Marco Polo Designs, sang as a primadonna in Italian opera theaters. While living in Venice, she learned to make glass beads and created jewelry for her own stage performances. In 1993, she tired of the performer's life, returned to the USA and began her collections.
Barthelemy's designs are about color and light blending to enhance your own personal style. The pieces infuse old-world craftsmanship with eclectic, energized modern style. Materials include handmade glass beads, precious and semi precious gemstones, sterling silver or gold vermeil. Glass beads are made over a single flame using many layers and colors of glass. Findings are sterling silver and gold, and are hypoallergenic and nickel-free.
