Following an education at Sir John Cass College in London, where England-born jeweler Michael Norman Bayes studied jewelry and silversmithing, the artist continued on to City & Guilds of London Institute for his craft certificate in diamond mounting and an apprenticeship with Andrew Grima, Royal Jewelers, London.

He returned to Southern California where he grew up, creating and teaching a course for UCLA Extension in Fundamental Goldsmithing as well as private classes. The artist currently lives in the desert, continuing his second labor of love, construction on a five-acre home/studio named “Ranchito Coyote.”

*At the request of the artist, only a small selection of Michael Bayes’ work is published on our website. Freehand always exhibits an array of Bayes’ pendants, necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings, in a range of styles and prices. If you are interested in seeing more of his collection, please contact the gallery staff.
