Seattle native Sally Prangley is a wire basket artist whose MBA in marketing from George Washington University helped greatly to ease the shift when it came time for the artist to bridge the divide between a studio and showroom. The artist has always held a deep interested in the arts and pursued undergraduate studies in Psychology, Art History and Literature.

The San Francisco resident started out creating mixed media functional wood sculptures which she continues to make. Over time, Prangley grew to incorporate found objects and began using wire to attach things together. She also took classes in traditional basketry because of her interest in someday wanting to create baskets out of “alternative materials.” During a workshop she was inspired to combine traditional basket-making and wire techniques. In the decade since, Prangley has been evolving her wire basketry. Some of the elements in her basketry, especially beads, are harvested from vintage necklaces and jewelry.
